Dr. Lara Thieme joins Dynamic42 as Senior Scientist
Dr. Lara Thieme holds a PhD from the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, specializing in clinical microbiology with a focus on bacterial biofilms in infectious endocarditis. She developed the Galleria mellonella insect larva model as an alternative animal model for enterococcal biofilm infections, earning the Thuringian Animal Welfare Award. After her PhD, Lara deepened her research in biofilm models, conducting studies on Staphylococcus aureus biofilm infections in bronchial air–liquid interface cultures.
Since June 2025, Lara has been contributing her expertise in immunology, bacteriology, and cell culture at Dynamic42. Her current projects include modelling cystic fibrosis-associated infections in a bronchiole-on-chip system for drug testing (CF-on-chip) and advancing oxygen sensor technology in gut-on-chip models.
I’m excited to bring my knowledge and laboratory experience in microbiology and immunology to Dynamic42, supporting the development of innovative, clinically relevant test systems that drive progress in drug testing and disease modelling.
We are excited that Lara will contribute her knowledge to Dynamic42!
