Build tri-layered organ-on-chip models containing multiple epithelial and endothelial interfaces between tissue compartments. The kit contains all consumables needed to build multilayer organ models with the potential to host an endothelium with tissue and another endothelium or to include a gel layer for migration studies.

The biochip – the heart of the organ model

The 3-Channel Kit, includes our BC003 with 2 flat-membranes, a biochip containing two porous membranes dividing the culture chamber into a top, middle and bottom channel accessible via ports.

Cell suspensions, coatings and gels can be introduced individually into each channel enabling the creation of cell layers and complex tissues on both sides of the membrane.

 

The separation of the channels allows to nourish the cells and tissues with individual media and with individual flow rates per channel (or no flow at all).

 

Additionally, circulating cell populations can be introduced. Matching reservoirs facilitate perfusion and ensure nutritional supply up to three days without medium exchange.

Application Highlight – Cancer Research

A multi-channel biochip for complex, 3D in vitro cancer models

The 3-Channel Kit, in combination with our TME Kit, can be used to model the tumor microenvironment.

 

  1. Top and bottom channel represent a perfused vascular compartment with immune cells (in blue).
  2. The middle channel represents the tumor with spheroids embedded into an extracellular matrix (ECM). Endothelial cells added into the tumor matrix will form a perfusable microvasculature directly connecting the tumor to upper and lower vascular channel.

Additionally, all kits are available with different membranes (0.4, 3, 5 or 8µm) and microscope cover glass at the bottom.

What do I need to get started?

In addition to the kit, you will require a peristaltic pump. If you don’t have one, you can order a DynamicOrgan® System and will receive a peristaltic pump in addition to your kit of choice.
